According to a video the Uber driver — 34-year-old Keith Avila — posted on Facebook right after giving his statement to the police, the three women got in the car and quickly started describing to the teenager, who was sitting in the front seat, what was going to happen when they got to the hotel. The women allegedly told the young girl to "check for guns" and "get the money before you start touching up on the guy."
At the time of the ride, Avila thought the girl was only 12. He said in the video he couldn't just drop them off and drive away like nothing happened, so as soon as they exited his car, he called police. Officers arrived quickly, and Avila gave them the number of the room he saw the women walk into.
According to the story, the 16-year-old girl was involved in a sex-traffick ing ring, and had been missing from her family for a while nowa. Police were able to bring her home, thanks to Avila's call. Police arrested Destiny Pettway, 25, and Maria Westley, 31, who allegedly arranged for the young girl to meet a man at the Holiday Inn. They also arrested Disney Vang, the suspected john waiting in the hotel, after finding him with the underaged girl in his room.
