This is bizarre!
Remember when we reported that Anita Baker had a warrant out for her arrest?
Well, she didn’t even know about the entire situation!
The Grammy-winner hired Ray Smith Painting and Decorating in 2009 to do $75,000 worth of work on her home, and she gave them $60,000 up front. They apparently did such a bad job that Miz Baker was out there spackling her own
home!
So, when the contractors sued her for the other $15,000, Anita was never even served the papers, which caused her to miss a court date she didn’t even know existed!
THEN in July 2013, they put a note on Anita’s door, saying that they wanted the other $15,000, but she was on tour so she missed that notice too.
Which means — you guessed it! — she missed another court date!
That’s when the judge put out a warrant for her
arrest, on Wednesday.
The 56-year-old legend is really shaken up by
all of this, and said:
"I've never been in trouble with the law. I'm terrified. There's no justice in the justice system."
We really hope her lawyer gets this all sorted out next week, which is what he plans to do.
