A man has been arrested, charged and convicted of possessing child pornography after he was caught looking at child porno*graphy at a public library, prosecutors in California have said.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that 49-year-old Kirk Brian Eggleston of Glendora, was sentenced to 13 years and four months in state prison, after being found guilty by a jury of two felony counts, possession of child pornography and attempted child pornography.
Additionally, the defendant admitted that he was previously convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, child molestation and indecent exposure.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge, Juan Carlos Dominguez, also ordered Eggleston to register as a sex offender for life.
According to the Deputy District Attorney Lauren Guber, who prosecuted the case, Eggleston went to the Glendora Public Library, sat down at a computer and began to view images of young girls in underwear and bathing suits. Library staff noticed the defendant looking at images of seminude young girls and called police, the prosecutor said.
Police officers testified during the trial that they found search terms used to find child porn*ography images on the library computer, adding that the discovered images were consistent with the terms.
The prosecutor said the police also inspected the defendant’s home computer and found child pornography search terms but no pictures.
