They are attributing this to the Slump in oil price & inflation
As a result of the drastic slump in oil prices and inflation in Venezuela, the prices of basic commodities have skyrocketed. The price of a box of condom is not excluded. It is sold for a whooping £500 (N149,353).
So i beg, in the name of business, can i be a major supplier for far less all the way from Africa? This good thing i am voluteering to do will help curtail the spread of Aids, unwanted pregnancy and anything that has to do with unprotected sexual intercourse..
As a result of this slump in oil price, the supply of condoms and birth control pills has declined sharply and they have become incredibly scarce. Consequently, the pharmacies and locations that do have them in stock sell them at exorbitant prices.
According to reports, “boxes now cost 85 percent of the average monthly salary in the South American nation.”
This has forced Venezuelans to buy their contraception online, especially via a site called Mercado Libre, which is similar to eBay.
