A Nigerian man living in the United Kingdom who wanted to bring his daughter to the country from Nigeria, decided to marry her in order to get her a visa.
Adesanya then staged a wedding ceremony, and took photos of him and his daughter as a happy couple. The photos obviously convinced immigration officials that his daughter, 30-year-old Karimotu Adenike, was actually his wife and she was granted permission to live in the United Kingdom.
The woman was now waiting for a
permanent right to remain in the country
before undergoing a legal divorce when her cover got blown. She was to then marry her husband and try to bring the rest of her family over to the country.
An anonymous letter was sent to the Office
of the High Commissioner in Lagos, Nigeria, and the U.K. Border Agency, tipping them off about the fraud. After not receiving a response, the tipster sent emails to the Home Secretary.
So far, nothing has been done to stop the couple. Adesanya lives with his daughter in Dagenham, Essex.
